The effect law of shell surface crack propagation under implosion loading

Abstract The fracture process of the metal cylindrical shell under action implosion is numerically simulated by AUTODYN finite element software for expansion cracks on surface cases loading. Numerical computations were used to determine effect law engineering factors such as energy density explosives, thickness, and material crack-related parameters. results show that radius along axial direction remains nearly constant, its value less influenced explosives. crack propagation velocity from location initiation non-exploding end shows a trend change high low, fluctuating down. circumferential both increase with explosive density. fluctuation range between 0.4~0.73/mm. can be study damage structures impact.
